AROUND 200 Coca-Cola workers at a site in Milton Keynes are set to strike after yearlong talks over pay finally broke down.
The GMB Union said up to 2,000 employees nationwide could join the action unless the drinks giant improved its below-inflation offer. Coca-Cola said: } 'Talks with the unions are ongoing.'
NEWCASTLE-based house builder Bellway (off 91/2p at 865p) saw profits rise 6.2pc to [pounds sterling]218.2m in the year to July as it continued to thrive at the lower end of the new homes market. Chairman Howard Dawe unveiled a 25pc rise in the final dividend to 31.25p.
A safe bet
SPORTS betting firm Sporting Index has been sold to HgCapital for [pounds sterling]75.8m.
Sporting had been owned Duke Street Capital, which made a return of 2.6 times on its original December 2002 investment.
INVESTMENT bank Merrill Lynch reported a 49pc rise in quarterly net income to $1.38bn ([pounds sterling]788m) thanks to a jump in underwriting and trading revenue.
