Jackett Juggles Resources as Injuries Pile Up

Byline: By IAN HUNT Western Mail

Kenny jackett admits Swansea are 'sailing close to the wind' as he grapples with an injury crisis that has decimated his first-team squad. But the Swans boss is hopeful the problem will be eased considerably within the next fortnight with key players scheduled to make long-awaited comebacks.

Jackett is struggling to make up the numbers for tonight's League One meeting with Bradford with no less than eight players on the Liberty Stadium injury list yesterday. Three were added at the weekend when defenders Steven Watt and Izzy Iriekpen, and striker Lee Trundle were casualties of Swansea's 2-1 success at Nottingham Forest.

Iriekpen will be out for up to six weeks after spraining knee ligaments, while the length of Watt's absence depends on a specialist's verdict on his dislocated shoulder.

Trundle, who picked up an abdominal muscle complaint as he struck the winning goal at the City Ground, could be back in time for Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe.

It is tonight that Jackett faces the biggest test of his resources, with defenders Sam Ricketts (thigh) and Kevin Austin (knee) needing late fitness tests.
