John Joseph Scott a Naperville resident since 1964 A Mass of Christian Burial for John Joseph Scott, 69, will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Dave Venn, a St. Louis pianist friend, will honor John with a jazz prelude starting at 10:15 a.m., as the family greets friends at the church entrance. A reception will follow the Mass in the SS. Peter & Paul Ministry Center. Interment will be private. Born Aug. 8, 1937, in Terre Haute, Ind., he passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at home, after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's. He spent all of his early life in St. Louis. He was a graduate of the St. Louis Institute of Music in piano performance and received a bachelor's of music education. He further received a master's of music history and literature from Northwestern University, Evanston. John was a member of the 571st Air National Guard Band, St. Louis, and the 566th Air National Guard Band, O'Hare-Chicago. He was a member of AFM Local @#2, St. Louis, and AFM Local @#10-208, Chicago.
