Fears Mount over Dubai Site Safety: In the Wake of Three Major Accidents in as Many Months, Industry Observers Are Raising Concerns over Foreign Workers' Safety
The safety of Dubai's construction sites has been called into question once again after a third high-profile accident in as many months.
On 20 March, a fire broke out at the Khalid Al-Attar tower project on Shaikh Zayed road being built by the local Transemirates Contracting.
The upper floors of the 29-storey building caught free early in the morning and disrupted commuter traffic with falling debris. No casualties were reported.
The accident follows a similar incident in January when a fire broke out on the Fortune tower project at Jumeirah Lake Towers, killing at least two workers.
