Roxas, Cayetano for Lie Detector Tests for Witnesses

A lie detector test will help prove who among the witnesses in the scrapped $329-million National Broadband Network (NBN) deal are telling the truth, Senators Manuel Roxas II and Alan Peter Cayetano said yesterday.
Although polygraph examinations can not be 100 percent sure and are considered inadmissible as evidence in ;court, the senators said they can still be used as a guide by the joint committees investigating the alleged overpriced deal.
"Polygraph tests are used all over the world as a standard for measuring the veracity of information and aiding investigators to focus the direction and intensity of their efforts," Roxas said.
"This is part of the people's process in the search for the truth, which runs alongside the Senate's investigation or that of the courts. It is not meant to take the place of the legal process, but to supplement it and satisfy the people's right to know," he added.
