Ice Sculpture Artists Aim for a Frozen Masterpiece; City Pair in Running for Contest Honours

APAIR of artists from Liverpool have been selected to represent the UK at the International Ice Sculpting Championships in Latvia this week.
Matthew Foster and Matthew Chaloner have taken the North West by storm since setting up their Glacial Art studio in Aintree three years ago, with recent clients including Jaguar, MTV and Reebok.
But their highlight so far was making an ice sculpture for Quentin Tarantino only to have him hack it to pieces at Purple Revolver's Death Proof UK premiere after a party.
Foster and Chaloner flew out to Jelgava, Latvia, on Monday and have spent the last six months in training, designing a spectacular giantice "galaxy".
Each year the Ice Sculpting Competition has a dedicated theme and as the judging will take place on Valentine's Day the title is Galaxy of Love.
The duo, who met at university, will compete in the team competition with two and a half days to complete their design, before entering the singles tournament with one day to complete a smaller piece.
