San Andres Rides against Asia's Best
Multi-titled rider Kenneth San Andres pits guts and skills against the region's best in the 2009 Motocross Masters of Asia-Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix in Palawan today.
San Andres, who was last season's second-best rider in the FIM-UAM Asia Pacific Motocross Championships, is aiming for no less than the overall title against the likes of Thai riders Kriangkrai Thiannok and Thanarat Peruan, former champion Aep Dadang of Indonesia, Mongolia's Erdenbileg Khaliunbold, Iran's Mojtaba Karimazadeh, Hong Kong's Vincent Lai, China's Su Wen Min, Sri Lanka's Tuan Ossen, and Japanese Sinichi Kaga.
"A championship here would be great," said San Andres, an Information Technology student of the Manila Central University. "It's definitely a big challenge going up against Asia's best riders, but the important thing is to improve with every ride."
Meanwhile, two award-giving bodies recognized San Andres' exploits as the Philippines' top motocross rider.
San Andres, who claimed both the premier Pro Open and Pro 125 titles of the National Motocross Championships two months ago, was recently bestowed with the Motocross Rider of the Year award by both the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) at the Alegria Lounge …
