Noli, Teodoro in Short List of Administration Bets
Vice President Noli de Castro and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro are included in the shortlist for the administration standard bearer in next year's presidential elections, according to a Palace official.Press Secretary Cerge Remonde identified two of the three possible presidential candidates who are being considered by the administration during a news conference in Malacañang.Remonde said the administration coalition is also open to considering another candidate from other political parties for the presidential race.“I can mention at least two: Vice President Noli de Castro and Secretary Gilbert Teodoro. Of course again we are not ruling out our other allies, who have expressed intentions to run like Bayani Fernando, Senator Gordon, and the others,” Remonde said.“As I mentioned in the past, politics is the art of the impossible so it will not even be impossible again that there will be people from outside of the present administration,” he added.Earlier, Presidential political adviser Gabriel Claudio confirmed that the selection for the administration’s standard bearer in the 2010 presidential polls has been narrowed down to three. Claudio did not give the names of these three presidential bets.He said the criteria for the administration’s standard bearer are winnability, track record, support for President Arroyo and the administration, and presidential qualities.Claudio said the administration’s vice presidential candidate, on the other hand, will depend on the final choice for president and negotiations with allied parties.He admitted …
