Grammar's Early Learning Centre Nurtures Every Child

BELIEVING that each child is special and precious is the spirit that has brought what was previously Athelstane Childcare Inc back to life.

Under the banner of The Rockhampton Grammar School since February 2007 and operating as The Rockhampton Grammar School Early Learning Centre, children get the benefits of a dedicated centre overlooking the views of Rockhampton.

Head of Early Learning Adeina Shackleton said the centre had been on the brink of closing, but was brought back to life with the support of the director, staff and families.

"Staff are passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic, believing that children have the right to be happy and well cared for in the absence of their parents," she said.

"We have continued to go from strength to strength, operating four rooms within the centre for babies, toddlers, pre-kindy and since March this year kindergarten with a fully qualified, registered teacher for 51 weeks per year."

When asked how the centre seeks to stand out from others, Adeina said it was by allowing each child the opportunity to develop a healthy and positive self esteem.
