ALVIS took a giant step towards claiming the Premier Division crown when they triumphed 3-0 in their top-of-the-table showdown with Christ The King.

The two contenders went into the game on the back of midweek draws - Alvis were held 0-0 at Potters Green while Kings settled for a 1-1 share at AEI Rugby - but Alvis packed too much firepower for their disappointing rivals. Chris Harris (2) and Daz Beckett settled the issue, and they now have a 10-point cushion against Kings, who have two matches in hand.

Dunlop were downed by a goal from Folly Lane's Andy Duel while Triumph notched a 3-2 success at Ambleside, Darren Judge, Anthony Hotton and an own-goal outweighing home strikes by Ian Morris and Ian Chaddaway,.
