THEY'RE TOYING WITH MEMORY OF OUR CHILDREN; Parents' Fury as Corfu Trial Delayed 6mths

Byline: PATRICK MULCHRONE

THE parents of two children gassed on a sunshine break in Corfu spoke of their fury yesterday after the trial of holiday reps accused of their deaths was put off for six months.

Relatives of Christianne Shepherd, seven, and her six-year-old brother Robert branded tour firm Thomas Cook "disrespectful" and said they were toying with the memories of their cherished youngsters.

The trial was due to start yesterday but was postponed when one of two British reps in the dock asked for an adjournment after a lawyer was called away to another case.

Outside court, the family, who have waited three years for the case to begin, were seething. With the children's mother Sharon by his side, angry stepdad Paul Wood said: "We are all very disappointed we will have to wait a further six months for justice.

"Thomas Cook led us to believe they wouldn't request the case to be adjourned. But they continue to play legal games.

"They continue to play these games with the memory of our children Christi and Bobby. This is extremely disrespectful."

Christianne and Robert, from Wakefield, West Yorks, died of carbon monoxide poisoning in their apartment at the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel, Gouvia, in 2006.
