Civics Committee: The Civics Committee of the Lifestyles Department has invited the township real estate assessors, whose work affects Sun City (Bill Ottley of Grafton, Janet Siers of Rutland, and Rose Letheby of Hampshire), to a forum at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, in Drendel Ballroom.

Property assessments are of great interest to Sun City residents. The assessors have been asked to explain the procedures, philosophy, mechanisms and general steps they use to arrive at assessments for individual properties' land and buildings. They may be able to explain why equalizers are not the same for the different townships. Residents will be able to submit questions, but will be discouraged from asking specific questions about their own properties. For this, they should make an appointment with their township's assessor. Furthermore, questions about taxes will be excluded because assessors are responsible only for assessments and not taxes.

The auditions for kids will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. both days, and the adult auditions will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. to completion Thursday. The auditions will be held in the Willow Room of the Meadow View Lodge. Approximately eight children will be cast and must be relatives of Sun City residents. Contact Marla Mallet at (847) 659-1617 and Gail Patterson at (847) 515-1893.
