QUARTERMILE EDINBURGH It's only a few minutes walk from Edinburgh city centre but Quartermile has a 'village' feel - and that's why Jill Davidson loves living here.

The 900-home development on Laurieston Place at the site of the former Royal In rmary is also exactly a quarter-of-a-mile from Edinburgh Castle. Quartermile is a mix of new-build ats and conversions from Gladedale Capital with the Meadows on its doorstep.

It's part of an ongoing project due for completion in ve years.

After business graduate Jill, 24, got her rst job with Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, parents Raylene and Ian were keen to purchase property as an investment.

After considering a number of traditional properties, they were persuaded to consider buying a new-build at Quartermile by Jill.

The events co-ordinator, who is originally from Kirkcaldy, said: "I was walking through the Meadows when I spotted the development at the old hospital. I visited the marketing suite, got a brochure, and I knew from that moment I wanted to live there."

Keen to see their daughter settle in a city she loved, Ian and Raylene bought a fth- oor two-bedroom apartment in the development off-plan in 2007.

Ian, a retired managing director, said: "It's an investment for us plus Jill's a young girl who's recently graduated so it's good for her to be on the housing ladder. The at ts Jill's lifestyle, it's near where she works and is near to where she socialises. It was important to us that the building was secure with an underground car park, CCTV, a concierge, and video entry.

"Jill was so excited about moving in, she drew up a oor-plan, looked at catalogues for furniture and then measured up herself."

From the moment you walk into Jill's stunning apartment you would think it was a show at as her decor is so tasteful and elegant.

Her fth- oor home also bene ts from an open-plan living area with oor-to-ceiling windows, a white high-gloss kitchen, a spacious bathroom, and two double bedrooms, including a master with en suite. It also has wooden ooring throughout. …
