A Fun Time State; Amazing Wildlife, Great Golf Courses, Shops Galore and Buzzing Nightlife, Not to Mention the Theme Parks, Make Florida a Great Destination

FOR years, Florida has been the ultimate destination for thrilling rides and rollercoasters.

But there's much more to America's Sunshine State than theme parks.

From adventurous water sports and world-class golf courses to relaxing spas and fantastic shops, Florida offers a host of holiday treats.

Orlando is the perfect holiday base in which to stay. Bursting with culture, the city is full of great shows, restaurants, sports attractions and natural wonders.

Thrill-seekers can even bypass the big parks and head straight to the Everglades for action-packed fun.

You can enjoy exciting airboat rides through the natural wetlands which are teaming with wildlife.

Reaching speeds of up to 40mph, you can cut through the tall reeds and cattails, catching glimpses of Florida's native alligators, turtles and birds.

If you like your water adventures to be a little more composed, the popular St Johns River, Ocklawaha River and Econlockhatchee River offer a variety of relaxing boat cruises.

You can choose anything from romantic dinner/dance trips to guided kayak and canoe tours - all of which guarantee a tranquil journey through Florida's marshlands.

The Blue Spring State Park near St Johns River is also a manatee refuge, with hundreds of the mysterious creatures arriving every year to shelter in Florida's warm waters.

For golfers, Florida is a sporting haven and home to some of the best golf clubs in the world.

Popular with locals and tourists alike, Orlando alone has more than 170 individual courses and more than 20 golfing academies.

Some, such as the Faldo Golf Institute, will offer golf instruction programmes guaranteed to improve your game. The certified instructors are taught by Nick Faldo himself, making it a must for golfing fans.

But if you just can't get enough of links-style courses, the nearby Champions Gate Golf Club, designed by Greg Norman, is the place to go.

Shopaholics are also well catered for in the Sunshine State, with plenty of city malls, fashion outlets and independent boutiques to be found throughout Florida.
