Environmental Health Devotion Earns Medal
WHEN it comes to serving his community there are few to rival Paul Florian.
The Director of Environmental Health Services was named in the Queen's Birthday honours list as a recipient of the Public Service Medal for services to Queensland Health in the fields of environmental and public health.
Paul, who came to Rockhampton in 2002, has worked for Queensland Health for nearly 30 years and is still clearly passionate about his work which now covers Central Queensland and the Central West regions.

C[pounds sterling]It covers areas of food, water, drugs, poisons and therapeutic goods, tobacco, pest management, emergency management and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander environmental health.C[yen]
Paul works tireless to help individuals overcome their adversity in small communities, responding to environmental emergencies and disasters, or assisting in major projects to ensure environmental hazards are addressed promptly and professionally.
Population growth and increased industrial activity including coal-seam gas extraction and coal mining brings environmental risks.
