Battleship Conquers the Mighty Fitzroy River ... Twice

4RO's Scott McLaren was yesterday declared a double world record holder, though it's doubtful the guys at Guinness will be too concerned..

Scott was behind the remote control of a toy battleship which crossed the Fitzroy River a twice.

With the help of Dean Ruff from Kalka Bait and Tackle, who provided the rescue tinnie which carted Scott across the water, Matthew Cunningham of Home Delivered Computers who provided the $69 battleship and morning talk-back radio host Michael J Bailey who called the crossing, Scott managed to get the boat over and back in 11 minutes.

Michael J invited anyone to challenge the record.

Apart from a small scratch after a rougher than expected landing at the boat ramp near the Fitzroy Bridge, the boat survived reasonably intact.

US trip no work and all play

WILL Central Queensland rugby league fans see a star quarterback in the No.7 jersey or wide-running receiver lining up on the wing for the Capras in 2012?

Capras chief executive Brenton Williamson is taking off to the United States this month.

But the trip to America is purely for pleasure and not business. Williamson joked this week the holiday, which was pre-booked before he started in his role with the club last month, could be a recruitment mission.
