Farm Alliance to Boost Research in Agriculture

Byline: Karen Dent

FARM supplier and retailer Farmway is teaming up with crop management expert Agrovista UK Ltd and grain marketer Openfield in a major new alliance.

The strategic agreement aims to provide agronomy, research, storage and marketing services to the UK agricultural sector, bringing together Darlington-based Farmway's seed production and storage capabilities, the agronomic expertise and technical innovation of Agrovista and the seed supply and end-market knowledge and experience of Openfield.

The three businesses will remain independent but will collaborate and share technical knowledge, end market solutions and broaden the services they offer to growers.

Farmway chief executive Peter Hull said: "This collaboration is part of Farmway's strategy to deliver choice, quality and good value products with relevant expertise to meet our customer's requirements, and validates our investment in our Variety Trials, Seed Plant and Silo facilities.

"Our co-operation with Agrovista and Openfield enables us to leverage market-leading technical expertise for the benefit of our farming customers throughout the North East of England."

Agrovista managing director and chairman James Robertson said: "This alliance offers an alternative, independent approach to the market based on technical excellence and expertise is backed by three key customer-focused and respected companies.
