THE largest of South Wales' new generation of hospitals opened yesterday - boasting 269 en-suite rooms.
Health minister Lesley Griffiths officially opened state-of-the-art pounds 172m Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, which replaces older community hospitals across Caerphilly borough, including the historic Caerphilly Miners Hospital.
All its 269 beds are in single en-suite rooms, designed to improve patient privacy and dignity and reduce the risk of infections spreading.
Mrs Griffiths said: "I am delighted to officially open Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.
"The services available under this one roof are invaluable to the residents in ā¦
