THE history of Mt Chalmers has been faithfully preserved by knowledgeable dedicated residents.

Sue Hutchinson and fellow volunteers guided our large group around what was once a thriving mining town of 2000 people.

This was a considerable population at that time.

The town boasted seven boarding houses, five hotels, banks, churches, billiards room and a roller rink. Films were shown in the local hall.

Through her knowledge and skill Sue conjured up images of the town and its characters.

Walkers were able to imagine the everyday life of the community and the hustle and commerce of Harold Rd in the early 20th century.
