Your News Eagle Candidate Blazes Trail in Long Grove

Kevin L. Perkowitz, age 18, of Lake Zurich, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts: the Eagle Scout Award. Perkowitz was to be recognized in an Eagle Scout Court of Honor in December, at the American Legion Hall, 51 Lions Drive, Lake Zurich.
A member of Troop 964 sponsored by American Legion Post #964, Perkowitz is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle Award.
Perkowitz chose to blaze a hiking trail and build and install two benches along Indian Creek in Long Grove. The project was completed on behalf of the Long Grove Park District to benefit the community, and required approximately 50 volunteers working almost 300 hours.
