CBCP Questions PCOS Machines' Performance
CEBU CITY, Cebu - Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has bared the CBCP's concerns about the performance of Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines used in the May, 2010 election.
"I'm sure when we come together in January (2013), one of the CBCP's concerns will be the evaluation of the PCOS machines. The issue will be evaluated because people, including many in the CBCP, have reasons to believe that there were a lot of defects in the PCOS machines," Palma said in a press conference after he read his New Year's message.
Meanwhile, in the same media meeting, Palma said the CBCP will not endorse candidates for next year's mid-term elections, including those who did not vote for passage of the Reproductive Health Bill now awaiting enactment by President Benigno S. Aquino III. The Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines is vehemently opposed to said bill.
"Let God be a part of our exercise to do this important task (voting) and let's do things in the spirit of prayers," Palma said. …
