CONGRATULATIONS Coffs Harbour on securing the highly sought after SEGRA (Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia) conference for later this year.

Attracting such events is a major plus in the economic development arena where a key focus is to provide support for business and industry to improve and stimulate communities.

Economic development can often exude various meanings but in a nutshell it refers to growing the economic stimulators of our society to create innovative, sustainable and positive change.

The economic development process requires facilitators such as government, private and not-for-profit entities and individuals who work in isolation, co-operating and collaborating to create progressive ideas.

However, the primary role of these stakeholders is to act as the necessary conduits of the process by introducing, steering and encouraging growth and development a to actually make it happen.

Economic development can form through holding information sharing and networking events and financial and non-financial program and project assistance, which targets innovation, investment attraction, job creation, investment retention. improves operational capabilities, and can also occur through strategic planning and policy development and implementation.
