WHEN you're planning your own programme for this Friday's Lightnight, don't forget to make sure the Baltic Triangle is on your route.
The Gallery Liverpool, based in Stanhope Street (just around the corner from Cains brewery), is bringing a unique collective of artists at the forefront of the British Realist movement to the city for a six-week show which opens as part of Lightnight celebrations.
The independent art gallery describes it as "an ambitious undertaking", with the exhibition set to include the work of seven established artists with shared fascination for representational art and with styles ranging from portraiture to hyper-realism.
The Gallery aims for REALISM: An Exhibition to position the form within the modern art landscape and showcase major achievements in contemporary realist painting.
"We're thrilled to bring highquality art to Liverpool which invites people to appreciate the artists' mastery of form and treatment of traditional subjects and techniques," says The Gallery's Fiona Dunn.
"We would like to invite debate around the genre's current standing and position it amid modern trends in art and photography."
A combination of local and international artists will bring REALISM to life. …
