Mayor Mulls Hill as Deputy: Served Together on Control Board

John W. Hill Jr., executive director of the D.C. financial control board, is being considered by Mayor Anthony A. Williams to serve as city administrator, the top unelected job in the District, according to city government sources.
Sources familiar with the search process said yesterday Mr. Hill would accept the job if it is offered, but Mr. Williams and Mr. Hill are concerned that it would appear Chief Management Officer Camille Cates Barnett was pushed out to make way for Mr. Hill.
For now, the mayor is overseeing the daily operations of the government himself, an exhausting task that could lead the mayor to curtail public appearances and speed the search ā¦
