SCOTTISH Cup shock-troops Ayr received another massive boost last night when on-loan Aston Villa hitman Neil Tarrant agreed to stay at Somerset Park until the end of the season.

Ayr boss Gordon Dalziel thrashed out a deal with his Villa Park counterpart, John Gregory, to extend Tarrant's loan period until the end of the season.

The Midlanders' ace was the hero as Dazza's heroes dumped Motherwell out of the Scottish Cup last weekend.

Tarrant scored twice in United's dramatic 4-3 victory at Fir Park.

Ayr have lost both Mickey Reynolds, red-carded at Fir Park, and Marvyn Wilson through suspension along with crocked keeper Craig Nelson.
