Superstar jockey Tony McCoy and Or Royal can grab the spoils and beat arch-rivals Simply Dashing and Richard Dunwoody in the pounds 40,000 First National Bank Gold Cup at Ascot today.
Eleven months ago Simply Dashing cut down Or Royal up the Royal heath's testing straight.
Now the application of blinkers, softer ground and less aggressive tactics set the grey up for revenge.
The fact that Or Royal hasn't run since March isn't a problem for, as we all know, no one is better at getting horses fit than Martin Pipe.
The horse is a class act - and tough too! At the Cheltenham Festival, Or Royal was good enough to win the Arkle before turning out again two days later to finish a fine Cathcart third to Sparky Gayle.
"He's fit and he jumped really well when Tony McCoy popped him over a few fences last week," says the champion trainer, who is looking to make up for Eudipe's disappointing effort at Haydock on Wednesday.
"This week's rain won't do him any harm either," adds the Wellington- based Wizard.
McCoy won't want to set himself up as a target in the same way he did when Or Royal was re-passed by Simply Dashing over the course and distance last December.
On the face of it Simply Dashing has top current form having handed out a 15-length demolition of subsequent Murphy's Gold Cup winner Senor El Betrutti at Wetherby last month. But bookies haven't been able to give …
