Independent Study Is a Unique Body of Work

Of the many independent studies that students at Lake Forest Academy do, one of the more unique ones is the independent study in anatomy and physiology.
Senior Tiffany Krempely was disappointed last year when there was not enough interest in anatomy for there to be a class. After talking it over with science teacher Gloria Harper, they decided to make it into an independent study. Fellow seniors Anita Bhardwaj and Erica Gilbert-Levin decided to join in the fun too, as did science teacher Chi Tran.
The goal of the independent study was not only to learn about the human body, but also to create an on-line class.
Each of the five people posted information about their individual areas of study on the Web at www.blackboard.com/bones. The topics they chose are five of the bodily systems, immune, nervous, cardiovascular, excretory and reproductive.
