Chicago Software Association Presents Its Annual Awards

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Schaumburg-based InstallShield Software Corp. were among the award winners during Chicago Software Association's annual event to celebrate the accomplishments of the Chicago area's technology community.
Daley was recognized with the association's first Technology Advocate Award for his efforts to promote the technology industry in the city and in the region by working with Gov. George Ryan on technology-related initiatives.
Both the city and the state have budgeted money to tout the local technology industry as they compete with cities and states across the nation for high-tech companies. The city also is redeveloping the Lytton Building in the South Loop as an incubator for tech companies.
In its quest to become a preeminent technology center, Chicago has the talent, the entrepreneurs, the work force, and the support of the state's top political leaders, Daley told the more than 500 people attending the Chicago Software Association's Achievement Awards ceremony at the Chicago Hyatt Regency Thursday.
"Chicago will become the leader with all of you involved in this," Daley said.
