Group Tackles Issues of Business Ethics

"In Search of Lasting Treasure" will be the topic for the new year's first "Faith @@ Work Breakfast" meeting from 6:25 to 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in Fellowship Hall 3 at Christ Church, 31st and York Road, Oak Brook.
The meeting will focus on pursuing profit in the workplace at the expense of employee jobs.
"We wanted to help people understand the integration of their faith into the workplace. We're connecting Sunday to Monday," said Sherri Adams, director of work-place ministry at Christ Church in Oak Brook.
Each month 25 people from all types of businesses in the suburbs and Chicago have been gathering for a continental breakfast and discussion of issues such as ethics, greed and conflict that they may face in the workplace.
A goal of the group is to help attendees at work put into practice what they heard in church on Sunday. The group draws members of area churches as well as members of Christ Church.
Adams said they welcome these other members, realizing that a large church such as Christ Church can offer resources that some smaller churches may not.
Each month a case study dealing with an issue attendees may face in the workplace is written. Adams said that one of the issues covered at a past breakfast was "bluffing in business - is that something Christians need to be cautious of? …
