Outstanding Students Recognized by Teachers

The Lake Park High School Pride in Performance Award winners for the third grading period have been announced. Students are nominated by teachers, and a subcommittee of faculty and staff determines the final award recipients. Unlike awards based on academic scores or athletic points, the Pride in Performance Awards recognize personal achievements that exemplify the attributes of a Lancer.
East campus recipients
Sophomore Steve Bernsee of Bloomingdale received the Academics Award.
He received the highest percentage in honors chemistry and has an A plus average. Steve is described by his teachers as a self-motivated young man with outstanding problem-solving skills.
Craig Zarbeck of Roselle received the Activities Award. Craig was the only freshman on the Science Olympiad team last year and served as an officer this year. He has given the extra effort necessary to help and lead his team.
Gantipp Kongkaeow of Wood Dale received the Athletics Award. Gantipp is a varsity wrestler at 103 pounds. He has 15 wins at the varsity level and never misses a practice. He also has a successful academic record and is an honor roll student.
Paul Lee of Itasca received the Achievement Award. Paul is a recent transfer student to Lake Park from Korea. His mastery of the English language is somewhat limited, but he has learned to use an English/Korean dictionary to complete his class assignments. …
