Parents Are Fighting Mad over $100 School Bus Fee

Parents in Algonquin's Willoughby Farms are fighting a decision forcing them to pay $100 to bus their children to a nearby school.
The parents say Sleepy Hollow Road, which children must cross to reach Westfield Community School, is dangerous and they want Dundee Unit District 300 buses to carry the students for free.
They have a tough battle. According to state law, a student must live at least 1.5 miles from the school or travel a dangerous route before the state will reimburse the school district for a bus. If a student lives within 1.5 miles, parents must pay $100 to ride the bus.
