Junior Miss Category Added to Pageants in Libertyville

This year's Libertyville beauty pageants are introducing a new category and location.
A Junior Miss pageant has been added to the Little Miss and Miss Libertyville pageants. All three pageants will be June 23 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake since it provides enough space for the audience.
Pageant director Shelley Hoselton said the third age category was added because for the first time this year the Miss Lake County Fair pageant will have a Junior Miss pageant. Winners in the Libertyville pageant will advance to the fair pageant in July.
Miss Libertyville has been selected Miss Lake County Fair for the past two years. The reigning Miss Libertyville and Miss Lake County Fair is Sarah Cook.
"We try not to make it a competition as much as learning how to present themselves," Hoselton said. "It's a good opportunity for kids to learn poise."
Applications for all three pageants are available at the village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave., and at Talent Forum, 450 Peterson Road. They are to be completed and returned with a $10 application fee by 5 p.m. May 25 to the Talent Forum.
