LWV to Look at Land Use Planning

Waller, C. L., Daily Herald (Arlington Heights, IL)

Byline: C. L. Waller Daily Herald Staff Writer

The public is invited to gain insight about land use planning during an upcoming meeting of the League of Women Voters Libertyville-Mundelein Area.

The league's Land Use Task Force has for seven months been gathering information on open property in incorporated and unincorporated areas of Mundelein, Libertyville, Vernon Hills and Green Oaks. The information also includes future plans for the land.

"A couple of us were concerned about growth and we wanted to know how things are planned," said Tori Trauscht, who chairs the task force.

The league supports long-term planning and a balance of environment and building, she said.

The meeting, set for 7:15 p.m. on April 9, at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St., will provide an overview of what has been gathered so far.

"We can better educate ourselves and the public," she said.

The group of 10 on the task force is about halfway through its process, Trauscht said, adding that the task force is starting locally and working up to a broader view of Lake County.
