BSP Enjoins BAP: Enforce Law Strictly; Anti-Money Laundering

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Rafael Carlos B. Buenaventura enjoined the 43 members of the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) in strict compliance to the anti-money laundering law.
In speech during the BAP annual meeting held late Monday afternoon, Buenaventura asked the member banks to "cooperate" in reporting surreptitious activities, which could be a cover-up for money laundering.
The assistance of the BAP, Buenaventura said, is important for the country's quest to be removed from the list of nations described as haven for money laundering activities by the Parisbased Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
