FERGIE is negotiating a money-spinning deal to relaunch her career as a children's author.
The books will be based on a rag doll character called Little Red, pictured right, that she created to raise funds for her charity in America - and could earn her pounds 1million.
The Duchess of York is in final talks with a US publisher and a deal is expected soon to launch the first book early next year.
It will initially only go on sale in the States, but internet bookshops mean it will be easily available to readers in the UK and the rest of the world.
The working title is The Adventures of Little Red and it is anticipated that other books will follow if it is a success.
Fergie recently released her fifth Weight Watchers book as part of a pounds 1.2million-a-year deal, but this will be the first time she has turned her hand to children's books since the series Budgie The Little Helicopter.
Her Little Red character was inspired by the first child her charity Chances For Children was able to help when it was set up in 1994.
It took on a new significance in the days after the September 11 terror attack on the World Trade Center when a fireman recovered one of the dolls from the debris.
It came from the offices of bond firm Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor of the North Tower - where Fergie's charity was based. No one from the charity was in the offices, but 600 Cantor Fitzgerald staff were among the 3,000 dead - the Duchess herself was on her way to the offices for a meeting when she was caught in traffic.
