ICE HOCKEY: Kings Open Doors to Local Talent

Local youngsters are to be given a chance to stake a place in the Solihull MK Kings as the new club prepares for its first season in the Findus British National League.
An evaluation session is to be held at the Hobs Moat Road rink on July 20 and 21 so player-coach Rick Strachan can run the rule over available talent as he shapes his side.
The Kings moved from Milton Keynes after a row with their rink owners and have taken over from the Solihull Barons. Now Strachan and the directors are currently preparing a charm offensive in the area to try to build crowds.
They hope that a nucleus of support of loyal Kings fans and former Barons fans will give them the stability that has been missing in Solihull in recent seasons.
The last local team to play at FBNL level was Solihull Blaze, who moved to Coventry to play in better facilities in 1999.
