EBSCO Publishing Showcases Alpha Version of Revamped Corporate Search Service
EBSCO Publishing has announced an alpha version of its revamped corporate search service, Corporate ResourceNet, at the Online World Conference in Washington, DC. Corporate ResourceNet, formerly Collectanea Corporate DeskTop Library, is a richly featured tool for the company intranet. EBSCO says the search service combines periodical information from over 1,700 full-text journals, a directory covering over 200,000 companies, and 60,000 hand-selected Web Links with an easy-to-navigate Web-based interface. Corporate ResourceNet answers queries about an unending range of topics with pertinent journal articles that contain links to profiling tools. Users follow hyperlinks to the Web.
This corporate service also offers new software features, expanded reporting capabilities, and more flexible pricing and purchase options. Corporate ResourceNet is powered by EBSCO's proprietary search engine and application. Newly available to corporations, this powerful engine was introduced in 1995 and is used in thousands of libraries worldwide.
Corporate ResourceNet's searching features allow users to conduct natural language or Boolean searching, as well as keyword search all fields in the database-including full text, charts, and graphs-and retrieve relevancy ranked or chronological results. Corporate ResourceNet also offers simultaneous, multiple database searching to expedite searches.
Users can access additional information via the service's hypertext links to related articles by subject, author, journal, and issue, as well as view search history and re-execute searches. For more open-ended searches, users can browse subject and journal authority files or the entire list of subject headings, and select multiple journals to search. When browsing the authority file, Corporate ResourceNet enables users to view expanded publisher name and address information as well as journal title coverage. Results can be e-mailed, downloaded, or printed with options 10 simultaneously print selected articles, print the entire article, or just portions of selected text. Corporate ResourceNet also offers the ability to limit searches to journals held locally in the library's collection.
