SCOTLAND hooker Gordon Bulloch will lament the absence of Ireland captain Keith Wood today.
Bulloch, set instead for a head-to-head showdown with Leinster's Shane Byrne, takes no comfort from the absence of the injured Lion.
"I would relish the chance to lock horns with Keith," said Glasgow Warriors star Bulloch, 27.
"People will suggest we are better off that Keith is out injured but I take the opposite view. I want to play against the best and there is no one better in the game than Keith Wood.
"I worked closely with him on the Lions tour and I have played against him as well so I have seen both sides of the Keith Wood coin and know just how good he is and just how vital he is to Ireland.
"With the way they are playing at the moment he would be made for the Irish team.
"I think he has suffered in the past because he is so forward-thinking and perhaps the players around him weren't able to take advantage of his work on the gain line and the angles he runs into but that is not the case with Ireland any more.
"They have been one of the top teams in Europe over the last two years and I hope he gets back at some stage of this year's championship. …
