Children's Art Exhibits Their Patriotism

One fun thing about visiting Bloomingdale's DuJardin and Erickson elementary schools is spotting the artwork adorning the walls everywhere.
Now, thanks to the Bloomingdale Public Library, you don't have to visit the schools to enjoy the talents of our youngsters.
"We have wanted the opportunity to bring the students' art to the public for some time," said Renee Cheri, Erickson art teacher. "This was a great opportunity."
This display will remain at the library until Feb. 28. It is a small exhibit, but impressive nonetheless.
The students learned about some great American artists like Norman Rockwell, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock. Therefore, the artworks exhibited all portray "The American Spirit," and definitely have a patriotic feel.
Entries from Erickson include first-graders Gina Mastrodomenico's 3-D hand waving the American flag and Jamie Gabanski's sponge painting of a glittered snowman holding a flag.
Second-graders Sean Lang and Ronald Castaldo both created graduated patterns of an American star design.…
