Merrill Lynch Names Area Director

Alane S. Siem joined Merrill Lynch as director of the Western Pennsylvania division. Siem, a 27-year financial industry veteran, previously worked for the company in Charlotte, and in Princeton, N.J. She began her career at Merrill Lynch in New York City in 1978 as a client associate.

Schneider Downs Wealth Management Advisors LP appointed Scott Ellis investment advisor and Karen Werley account specialist. Ellis has 15 years' experience and holds the Series 7, Series 31, Series 66 and the Pennsylvania Life and Health Insurance securities licenses. Werley's background includes 25 years' experience in the financial services industry.

Steve Rydzak joined Fiduciary360 as director, global sales and marketing. He formerly was director of business development for Kanbay International.


At the Catanese Group, Stacey A. Sowers and Lindsey R. Weidner passed the exam to become certified public accountants. Sowers is a supervisor and Weidner is a senior accountant.

Sisterson & Co. LLP hired Stephen W. Kazakewicz as a tax manager. Most recently, he was with Swart Lalande and Associates; he has 10 years' experience.


Ronald S. Gellert, of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC, is an author of "The Roles and Motivations of Key Players in Bankruptcy Cases: Leading Lawyers on Overseeing Bankruptcy, Financial Restructuring, and Reorganization Proceedings." Gellert practices in the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights department and in general commercial law and commercial litigation. Jeremy L.S. Samek joined the firm as an associate in the litigation division. He focuses his practice on general civil litigation and commercial litigation.

Donald M. Lund and Curt Vazquez have joined Cohen & Grigsby P.C. as directors in the firm's litigation group. Lund focuses his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation and product defect claims. Vazquez focuses his practice in the areas of insurance coverage and counseling, consumer class-action defense, and accounting malpractice. Both previously were with Jones Day.

Maureen Kelly, a shareholder in the employment and labor services group of Babst, Calland, Clements and Zomnir P.C., received the Outstanding Leadership in Support of Legal Services award from the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network.

Meyer Darragh Buckler Bebenek & Eck PLLC elevated Richard S. Canciello to non-equity partner. His practice centers on civil litigation defense, including the defense of workers' compensation and employment law claims.

Advertising and PR

Communifax Corporation hired Kathy Sabol as lead generation specialist. Previously, she worked for True Commerce Inc.

GatesmanMarmionDrake Inc. hired Matthew Axeman as art director and Jessica Geppert as account coordinator. Axeman's prior experience includes Web site and design work for accounts including Performance Health Inc., National Starch and Chemical Company, Highmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Del Monte Foods. Geppert previously worked as a public relations and special events coordinator for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
