Reportedly, Gov. Matt Blunt is leaning toward Bo Fraser to replace Tom Atkins on the University of Missouri Board of Curators. If the governor makes this move, it will be a good one.
Curators should first and foremost be eager to improve the university, but they also should be willing to criticize the institution for positive gain. Fraser, former president of Boone County National Bank, has shown himself to be a selfless community leader and a savvy businessman, the very characteristics possessed by Tom Atkins, the former president of the board of curators whose term ends this month.
I was an eager advocate for Atkins with then-Gov. Bob Holden, and I can say the ā¦
