High Court Rejects Ferguson Appeal ; No Judicial Error in Trial for Heitholt Murder

The Missouri Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear an appeal from Ryan Ferguson, who was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2001 death of Tribune Sports Editor Kent Heitholt.
The high court's decision ends the direct appeal for Ferguson and sets the stage for another appeal, starting in Boone County Circuit Court, addressing whether his constitutional rights were violated, including whether he had ineffective legal counsel.
