Graham Towl
Professor Graham Towl, 41, is head of psychology in the prison and probation services and was honoured in this year's British Psychological Society Awards. He has published widely in his field, including work on suicide, risk assessment and ethics, and is co- founder of the British Journal of Forensic Practice and of Forensic Update.
"I became interested in the connection between mental health problems and criminality when working as a psychiatric nurse," says Professor Towl. "An opportunity came up to work as a psychologist in a prison, and I took it.
