Real Madrid's new coach, Carlos Queiroz, trying to fit right- sided midfielders David Beckham and Luis Figo into the same team, said yesterday he hoped the tour of Asia would help solve the puzzle.
Queiroz, who spent a year with Beckham as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United before following him to Real, sought to defuse media speculation that a conflict would evolve between the two midfielders. "The most important thing is they belong to the same team," he said in this south-west China outpost, where Real are training for a week before four pre-season friendlies in the Far East.
