There was no doubt about the verdict. Kevin Pietersen reckoned he had just played his best innings. In his opinion, it surpassed his identical score at the Oval against Australia last season, when he guaranteed England the draw which won them the Ashes.
"Maybe the bowling attack is not as good as Australia's, but the way I went about my innings was better than at the Oval.
