CALL THE COPS!: A recent rash of vandalism at Kiel Center, including an incident in which a brick was tossed through a window of the Slap Shop, triggered one Blues fan to ask,"Was it an attempted break-in or just someone upset with the latest Blues trades?"
Reached for comment, Kiel Center speak Al Kerth said, "There was an attempted break-in."
FYI: Inquiring minds want to know what action was taken Thursday by the St. Louis Housing Authority's board on management of the entire Bluemeyer complex. It was proposed that management be turned over to a tenant management board headed by yesteryear rent-strike leader Jean King-Chavis. King-Chavis is the wife of the housing authority's maintenance chief, Dan Chavis.
CAMEO APPEARANCE: "I've played three presidents, three saints and two geniuses," said Charleton Heston. Now, you can rub shoulders with Heston the author at 8 p.m., Sept. 19 at the JCCA and listen to his pitch for his new autobiography, "In the Arena," (Simon & Schuster, $27.50). The book includes vignettes of his portrayal of epic heroes from Moses to Michelangelo and Ben Hur, a role that won him an Oscar in 1959.

PLAUDITS: Happy 70th birthday to the Admiral on the President: John Connelly! The celebration took place over the weekend at Connelly's Pittsburgh manse, where a model for his hotel for cardinals in the Vatican was unveiled. Adm. Connelly had dispatched his private plane for the Rev. Larry Biondi of SLU and his clan to attend the party - a luau for 225, replete with roasted pig, Hawaiian performers and a fire-eater.
