The Journal Record's 2012 Beacon Awards: Jones Public Relations in Oklahoma City

Record, Journal, THE JOURNAL RECORD

As part of Jones Public Relations Inc.'s 10-year anniversary, the agency last year created a grant to help local organizations build awareness and hit company goals. The first recipient of its pro bono Community Agency of Record Effort (CARE) grant was the Oklahoma History Center.

The one-year grant is worth about $60,000 in services. Jones Public Relations is providing the Oklahoma History Center, at no cost, a full range of marketing services that include strategic planning, message development, creative services and media relations across multiple platforms of communications.

"Our work with the History Center, through the grant program, aims to raise attendance and awareness within the 18-to-30-year-old demographic. This demographic has been overlooked by the History Center in the past, and our goal is to change that," said Brenda Jones Barwick, president of Jones Public Relations.

"Jones PR began the project with market research, including a focus group of local 18-to-30-year-olds. We took this information and crafted a strategic plan to implement for the Oklahoma History Center. By reaching out and marketing to this demographic, we look to change the perception of the History Center as a 'family' spot.
