SUSSEX HAVE made a bright start to the season. They have reached the quarter-finals of the Benson & Hedges Cup and yesterday recorded their first victory in the Second Division.
Not that they were over-taxed in beating Nottinghamshire. There were just a couple of pockets of resistance, in the persons of Paul Johnson and Greg Smith, the latter a South African with an English passport and useful left arm.
Smith first played merry hell with Sussex's attempts to set the target, the left-arm pace bowler's accuracy and power earning him his second five- wicket haul of the match. Then, at the fag end of Nottinghamshire's apology of a chase, he helped sweeten a bitter ā¦
