AN EVENT such as the European Team Championships in Leon, which have just passed, naturally included several very interesting miniatures. Looking through the database, a couple particularly caught my attention - although unfortunately, in the first, I was on the receiving end!
I've played this line of the "Bogo-Indian" a few times recently, though it's not tremendously enjoyable if White plays well. 9...Qe4 is a safer option, though White keeps an edge. 10.a3 may even be new and contains much more poison than appears at first sight. If 12...e5 13.e4! looks annoying but 13...Qd6 14.d5 Bg4! may well be fine.
My queen was offside on h6, but I hoped to be able ā¦
