Tipton, David, THE JOURNAL RECORD
A series of lectures, films and an architectural exhibit are among some of the activities being scheduled. Members of OU's Student Board hope these events will be helpful in attracting public recognition for the college while strengthening ties among architecture students, faculty and professionals.
"Because we have students scattered through various buildings on campus, we wanted to do something to bring them together to foster communication," said Mark Gandy, president of the board.
Lectures on the aspects of preparing architectural work for presentation to clients will be presented by two notable speakers, Ernest Burden and Mike W. Lin. Times and locations for the lectures will be announced soon.
Burden is founder and publisher of The Communicator's Advisor, a bimonthly newsletter and advisory service focusing on interview strategies, client criteria, techniques for architectural presentations and the use of print media. Lin teachs design and graphic delineation at Kansas State University and is a recognized leader in architectural rendering methodology.
Five films in the series "Understanding Cities" produced by Edmund Bacon, a well-known city planner and speaker, will be shown at various times during Architecture Week. The first film will be shown at 1:30 p.m. April 7 in the college's gallery on the second floor of the north end of Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Another event planned for Architecture Week will be a role-playing session at 12:30 p.m. April 9 in the gallery, in which architecture and construction students will debate issues involving documents and contracts. . .
